Representative Jeudy was born in Jérémie, Haiti, in 1958. In 1981, he immigrated to the United States and later married his wife Elvire.  After a debilitating back injury in 1993, Jeudy became inspired to give back to his adopted community. He created the Manchester Haitian Community Center and served on the Board of Directors for the local United Way, as well as for the Manchester Public-access television station.  

 

From 1999 to 2004 he served as vice President of the Haitian Community Center of New Hampshire an ran for a state representative seat in 2004 for which he was defeated at the polls.  He finished 5th in the Democratic Primary, 53 votes short of Manchester Firefighters Union president William Clayton. However, after the resignation of Clayton in 2005, Jeudy ran again, defeating Republican opponent, Robert Fremeau, 508 to 322. Jeudy become the first Haitan-American legislator in New Hampshire history.

 

He was the official Democratic Party candidate and collected 508 votes against this White Republican opponent who garnered only 322 votes.  His victory is said to have been heavily infulenced by his popularity throughout District 10 as a result of his reputable voluntter work and the television program he has been hosting throuh Community Television Access, but also because of his vigorous campaining in the area and logistic support from the Democratic Party.


Jean L Jeudy represents House District Hillsborough 10 in the New Hampshire House, is a member of one committee, and is the primary sponsor of one bills.

 

Mr. Jeudy before his candicady had been actively involved in Ward 3 for over 15 years as board member of the United Way, Board member of Manchester Community Television Access, Chairman of Community Health Board, member of the Manchester Steering Committee for Presidential Cnaidate John Kerry 92004) member of the Board of Greater Mancherster Association Services Agency and producer and host of TV Palmiste.  In 2002, he was the recipient of the Good Samaritan Award from the city of Manchester.
