Haiti's current administration’s foci are modernization of the State, private investment development while pursuing core objectives that deals with peace, safety, justice and social equity as it takes measures to quickly impact the most acute forms of poverty and socio-economic difficulties that continues to affect the population.

It is evident that to maintain a sound and vibrant national economy and to enhance citizens’ quality of life, decentralization is a good way to start.  Decentralization by way of transport can broaden a sustainable economic stimulus to local communities, metropolitan region, states and the nation. It boosts business revenues and profits; it creates jobs and expands the labor pool; it stimulates development and redevelopment; it expands local and state tax revenues and reduces expenditures required for other essential public services.

The money invested in this sector will flow through all sectors of the economy and a cross section of the nations’ various communities, large and small, urban and rural. According to Gannon Liu although adequate transport alone will not alleviate poverty but it is necessary for poverty reduction, as it reduces poverty by supporting economic growth, complementing most poverty-targeted interventions, and encourage the poor to participate in social and political processes.

MTHA is a collaborative partnership project which touches all sectors.  This project will enable the country to open and connect all its corridors and provide access to areas with productive potential so as to enhance the country’s attraction and international competitiveness. Open the country in ways to move out of insulation the rural areas where two thirds of the population live, reduce migration flows and enable the cities to be livable. More than half of Haiti’s rural population does not have access to sound basic services and more than a third of this population is not accessible often not even by a road suitable for motor vehicles. Hence access to basic social services (education, health) but also to economic development (markets, trade) is highly limited.

MTHA hopes to stimulate economic growth, improve living conditions, competitiveness and profitability of the different departments of Haiti.

Recognizing the importance of transportation and its ability to rekindling economic activity and galvanizing domestic industry, the implementation of the MTHA project  is Lakou Association's top priority. It will be great the day when the Haitian Diaspora can freely travel from the capital to their home cities without having to face any hurdles.  The tourists able to visit all four corners of Haiti with one back pack and the locals not having to be forced to move away from their region to find services or for a job.

MTHA the doorway to all of Haiti!
